TSO PEMA

NON-PROFIT

( LOTUS FLOWER LAKE )

Why in the world would westerners care about what is going on in Tibet and with Tibetans?
We'll give you 3 good reasons!

  • THEY ARE VICTIMS OF A CULTURAL GENOCIDE  IN THEIR OWN HOME.
  • TIBETANS PRACTICE NON-VIOLENCE.  THEY ARE OUR MODELS, OUR TEACHERS, ON HOW TO LIVE IN PEACE.
  • WE REALLY NEED THEM ... AND THEY REALLY NEED US.

SO?

WHAT'S THE STORY?

Tibetan people are living a cultural genocide in what was once their own land. The Tibetan population has been “fighting” for over half a century against its oppressor through a unique practice:

NON VIOLENCE.

We firmly believe that the philosophy developed during the past centuries in this Himalayan country is of immense benefit to the inhabitants of the whole world. Tibetan Buddhism teaches very simple practices in order to live happily, to love, to forgive and mainly to be satisfied with what we have and to not always crave the things we don’t have.

We want to preserve these teachings and to save the lives of those who have dedicated their entire existence to pass on to others such spiritual benefit.

TIBETAN CULTURAL CENTER IN ROME, ITALY

We do a variety of things that recall the Tibetan culture, which is a culture of peace and compassion.

We hold  informal classes on how to make life easier. For 2 winters we read the book written by an American psychiatrist and HH the Dalai Lama ... "The Art of Happiness".

In 2014 we read the book called, "What makes you NOT a Buddhist".

This year 2015 we are reading a book by HH the 14th Dalai Lama but I don't know the title in English.

... We hold many other activities such as conferences, meditation, making sand mandalas, hosti<ng benefit tours of Tibetan monks in Italy, and holding Tibetan dinners

ACTIVISIM FOR TIBET

SOCIAL WORK FOR TIBETANS LIVING IN EXILE

We go everywhere and anywhere that  is necessary to bring awareness to others about the situation in Tibet: open squares, rallies, schools, conferences, musical events.

We go around India, Europe, Italy or just stay in Rome to do what  we can.

Sonam Wangyal, our assistant in New Delhi, was given a recognition award by the Dalai Lama Bureau Office in Delhi on HH the Dalai Lama's birthday (6 July, 2015) due to all his hard work in helping sick Tibetans (and not only Tibetans) in India.

In 2012 and 2013 we were able to raise funds through our members and friends to pay for a Tibetan administration health insurance program for many low-income Tibetans living in exile.

In only a few years Tso Pema, thanks to our many friends, has been able to help innumerable people, mainly Tibetans living in poor conditions in India, where they live in exile.  However, we have also contributed in helping Tibetans living in Tibet.

We are presently sending 2 young Tibetans to university in India.
